NON GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION |
The word “NGO” is an abbreviation of Non-Governmental Organization, synonymous with Non-Profit Organizations (as is known in North America or in Europe), which primarily work towards social, cultural, economic, educational or religious causes. NGOs have made favourable contributions to the weaker sections of the society, especially in India. It is pertinent to note that all NGO, irrespective of their legal status, may acquire funds from abroad under provisions of The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976.
